Corum’s Garden of The Summer
Every garden has a story
A garden is rarely just a garden. It is a project taken on one weekend and finished five years later. It is a corner claimed back from the weeds. It is where the family ends up on the one warm evening in July.
We want to see them all. The urban courtyard that earns every inch of itself. The country garden decades in the making. The suburban plot torn up and started again. The balcony, the back court, the walled garden, the vegetable patch that has quietly taken over.
What We’re Looking For
Three things decide it. Design and purpose, meaning how the space is arranged and what it was created to do. Style and character, meaning how the garden looks and feels, whatever form that takes.
Motivation and inspiration, meaning why you took it on and where the idea came from. The first two are largely what we can see in your photographs. The third is what only you can tell us, which is why the description matters just as much.
01
Design & Purpose
How the space is arranged, and how well it works as a whole.
02
Style & Character
The visual impact of the garden, whatever form that takes.
03
Motivation & Inspiration
Where the idea came from, and who it might inspire in turn.
For The Winner
We will shortlist five gardens.
Four runners-up will each receive £100 of gardening vouchers, to put towards whatever comes next.
The winner receives £500 of gardening vouchers and something we think is worth rather more than that. We will bring a film crew to the garden and make a short film about it: the space, the work behind it and the person who made it happen. Your garden, properly documented, and shared with our audience across the West of Scotland.
Every garden on the shortlist will be featured across our channels. Ours is a part of the country that grows things beautifully and says very little about it, so this is partly an excuse to make some noise about that.
How To Enter
Submit your garden by filling in the form below and we will be in touch to confirm we have received your entry.
